Art Motile and Matadero Madrid present AIR ARRAY

AIR ARRAY will take place on 9, 10, 11 March 2015, and will be hosted at Matadero Madrid and Casa de Velázquez. Below you can find some biographical information on the presenters and workshop leaders for the event.

Workshop Leaders and Presenters:

Herman Bashiron Mendolicchio is Post-Doctoral Visiting Researcher at United Nations University Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM) and faculty at Transart Institute (NY-Berlin).

Kadija de Paula is an artist and art manager interested in building creative and non-hierarchical communities. She was coordinator and mediator of Residencias En Red (Iberoamérica) and she is currently working with Agência Transitiva in Rio de Janeiro.

Marta Gracia, Director of Art Motile. Art Motile is a platform based in Barcelona that conducts research and provides information on Spanish AIR programmes and other issues related to artist mobility.

Marie Le Sourd, On the Move. The overall mission of the cultural mobility information network On the Move is to facilitate cross-border cultural mobility, contributing to the development of a vibrant and shared European cultural space strongly connected worldwide.

David Marin, Secretary of Red Transibérica and Director of Nau Ivanow. Red Transibérica is a cooperation platform whose mission is to promote the development and strengthening of independent cultural spaces in Spain, while strengthening collaborations with the independent cultural spaces of Portugal.

Sören Meschede, Hablarenarte. Hablarenarte is an independent platform for projects that works to support the creation, publicising dissemination and promotion of contemporary culture. It develops its projects in cooperation with public or private institutions and cultural agents.

Montserrat Moliner is an artist, independent cultural manager and activist with experience in the public and private sector. She is currently executive coordinator of the network Xarxaprod and collaborator with Art Motile.

Andrea Pacheco, Chilean curator and cultural agent, has focused her work on the relationship between Spain and Latin America, running institutional and independent residency programmes for artists in both regions. She is currently the exhibition coordinator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago, Chile.

Ramon Parramon is President of Xarxaprod and Director of Idensitat and ACVIC. Xarxaprod is a network of spaces for creation and production in Catalonia, composed of different organisations that offer services to contemporary artists. Members of Xarxaprod have different profiles but they all share the vocation of being a public service for culture.

Sina Ribak, Coordinator of Kiosko Galería, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. Kiosko Galería is a platform to produce and promote contemporary art through exhibitions, residencies, workshops, conferences and the production of events related to education and dissemination of contemporary art.

Joël Riff is responsable for communication at Moly-Sabata AIR programme in Sablons, France. The Albert Gleizes Foundation runs five studios in Moly-Sabata welcoming contemporary visual artists. The centre develops several modalities of residencies, including partnerships with art centres in the Rhône-Alpes, individual paid stays, writing scholarships and award invitations.

Ann Stouvenel is co-founder and president of Arts en Résidence - French National Network, coordinator of the residency programme Finis terrae (Ouessant) and arts coordinator at Mains d'Œuvres (Paris). The association Arts en Résidence - French National Network brings together AIR programmes in the field of visual arts in France with the aim of improving their visibility through working meetings, public presentations and the development of common tools.

Cristian Figueroa, founder of Tejeredes and Esther Camacho, multiplier for Tejeredes in Catalonia. Tejeredes promotes connection processes among people. Through an original and fun methodology Tejeredes provides tools for collaborative work while transferring the necessary concepts to understand how groups of people can work together based on a network system.

Ranti Tjan, Director of sundaymorning@ekwc, Den Bosch, Holland. sundaymorning@ekwc is an internationally renowned ceramic knowledge centre where visual artists, designers, architects and other creative professionals can explore the artistic possibilities of ceramics.

Mark Vennegoor, Managing Director of Res Artis. Res Artis is an association of over 500 centres, organisations, and individuals in over 70 countries working in the field of AIR programmes. Since 1993 Res Artis has been promoting the role of residential art programmes as a vital part of the contemporary arts world.

Manuela Villa, Head of Art Projects at Matadero Madrid. Matadero Madrid is an initiative by the City of Madrid in collaboration with other public and private entities that aims to become the largest centre for contemporary art in the city and a reference point in the international cultural scene.

Heidi Vogels is the coordinator of AIR Platform NL at DutchCulture|TransArtists in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is also a visual artist and filmmaker. TransArtists’ AIR Platform NL is a platform for the mutual exchange of information and experience between AIR organisations in the Netherlands and Flanders, and offers practical advice concerning AIR programs to art professionals, funders and policymakers. DutchCulture|TransArtists is the international platform for artist mobility, offering expertise and services concerning AIR programs as well as other cultural opportunities for artists to stay and work elsewhere.

AIR ARRAY: Meeting of AIR Programmes and Mobility Workshop for Artists

Art Motile and Matadero Madrid present AIR ARRAY, a three-day event focused on artist in residence programmes and artist mobility. The event consists of two main activities: a two-day meeting for AIR programmes and a half-day mobility workshop for artists. The event will take place on the 9th, 10th and 11th of March 2015 at Matadero Madrid and Casa de Velázquez - Académie de France à Madrid.
