WHAT WE DO
Art Motile is a platform based in Barcelona which provides information and resources on Spanish artist in residence programmes and other issues related to artist mobility.
We are an independent, non-commercial organisation, and we offer the following services for artists and other cultural workers:
News
Art Motile collects and publishes news on calls for artist in residence programmes, exchange programmes and mobility grants, as well as the latest information on publications and projects related to artist mobility.
Databases
Art Motile’s online AIR Database provides searchable, up-to-date information on Spanish AIR programmes currently in operation.
Art Motile’s online Research Database, which is currently under construction, will compile research conducted by Art Motile and others, and will include reports and other publications on Spanish AIR programmes and related subjects.
Advice
Art Motile gives personalised advice to artists and other cultural workers about Spanish AIR programmes, mobility grants and applications. We aim to help artists find opportunities that fit their needs, connecting them with residencies that are the best match for them.
Workshops and Presentations
Art Motile gives presentations and workshops locally and internationally, offering practical information for artists living in other countries who are interested in residency opportunities in Spain. Our workshops and presentations are also of interest to artists who are already living in Spain, and cover artist mobility schemes and grants for programmes abroad.
Research
Art Motile is continually updating and enlarging the content of its AIR database. We conduct research to contribute new perspectives and content to the international AIR programme phenomenon. Art Motile also actively participates in research activities and projects such us panels, conferences and collaborative learning workshops involving other artist mobility-related organisations.
Networking
Art Motile develops projects and activities in collaboration with other national and international organisations, such as Trans Artists, various residencies in Spain and elsewhere, and Spanish embassies abroad. Our aim is to help residencies to reach the audience of artists they are seeking, while encouraging productive and durable links between individual programmes as well as between networks, both nationally and internationally.

Trans Artists is a knowledge centre for artist-in-residence opportunities, operating mainly from the artists' perspective while cooperating with a wide range of partners around the world, with an increasing focus on European countries.
Art Motile collaborates with Trans Artists by sharing and exchanging information on Spanish AIR programmes, and by organising workshops aimed at making information more accessible to artists and other cultural operators.
In 2012, Trans Artists collaborated with Art Motile in the EU-funded Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme.
